Show and Tell: G’s Not-So-Secret Lay-air

July 12, 2008

G is averaging about one new behavior per day.  Today’s latest: he has found himself a secret fort in the backyard, which I refer to either as Fort G or G’s Secret Lay-air (said in my best Austin Powers impression).  It’s in the very back of the yard near the fence line in an area of bushes.  Unbeknownst to us (since we NEVER go back there) there is a break in the bushes that is the perfect size for a dog.  He shimmies in there, usually with his favorite toy, and then watches me try to lure him out.  I think he finds it very amusing.

Here he is in his Not-So-Secret Lay-air:

haha! Parkie has a spot like that too except his is in our closet. I would love to know what they are thinking sometimes as we make fools out of ourselves trying to lure them out!

Super cute! What a great little hiding place. I need to find one like that some days, but I don’t need anyone trying to lure me out. Too cute, thanks for sharing!

I think they find us even more amusing than we find them…sometimes.

Ahhh, so cute. We have a mini dachshund and he has a few of little hiding spots as well. Unfortunately, when he goes in them I get panicky because I can’t find him.

All children need a good “hidey hole” as #1 Son calls it. Just be thankful it’s not at the bottom of your clothes hamper…that can scare the bejeebers out of a girl. Imagine, going to toss a dirty t-shirt in the hamper only to find a 4 year old staring at you when you lift the lid….or in your case a golden retriever!

Love the new look! And I have to share this with you: http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/gadgets/gazillion-fetch-a-bubble-machine-drives-dogs-wild-238086.php

A friend won a drawing on another blog & let my kids pick a prize. They picked a bubble machine and this is what we got today. I’m pretty sure it was inadvertant and not a remark on my children, but it cracked me up. As soon as I opened it I thought, “Oh! Mrs.X needs to get G one of these!” I have to say, having bullion scented bubbles floating around my kitchen is freaking me out. We’re going to run them out in the yard & refil it with normal, soap scented bubbles.
